After an 11 month courageous battle
with cancer of unknown primary Gary Barton died on 14 January 2010, aged
45 years.
Gary was known to many for his warm
nature and love of football, especially Chelsea Football Club where he was
a season ticket holder for many years.
At the start of August 2008, he
commenced employment with A.O Smith Water Heaters who sadly were to be his
final employers; due to his new career prospects coinciding with the first
symptoms of his illness.
Once Gary had been diagnosed with
cancer of unknown primary he was admitted to Talbot Butler Ward at Northampton
General Hospital for treatment. Gary expressed that irrespective of the
outcome of his journey that the staff should be recognised for the care
and dedication they had shown to him during his illness.
On Gary's final admission to Talbot
Butler Ward he was transferred to Cawthorne Ward at Danetre Hospital, Daventry;
whose fantastic facilities enabled many family members to be with Gary during
his last few days.
The Gary Barton Memorial Trust has
been created to provide and assist in the provision of facilities, support
services and equipment for both above wards.
